Beautycare: A guy job

Last evening, I got my legs waxed. Sure that's no big deal - but this time round it was different. This time I went to a beauty salon for women with men offering services.

Last evening, I got my legs waxed.
I know I know that really is no big deal - but this time round it was different.

Why?

This was the first time I ever went to a beauty salon for women with men offering services.

And that did add a bit of interest to the otherwise merciless routine of tearing out hair from my skin and paying for it.

I guess such beauty salons have been around for a while now and that women in Mumbai have got accustomed to getting waxed and threaded by men, but then the trend is yet to catch up in the rest of the country.

The point however is that these young nimble fingered guys seemed top me to be from a different planet.

In the perfumed glossy interior of the salon, these prim fellows are gentle souls who love their jobs - exactly what one looks for when they go to a salon for treatment.

Inscrutable faces, efficient hands it feels good to see these men at work. The women letting themselves go for a good oil massage or a caring shampoo and the guys working away gently- not even a hint of discomfort.

So can one tell that men are better at the grooming, styling job? I don’t know but for all the years of beauty-parlour hopping, I do find men better at their work inside the parlours.
