BHEL chairman Puri gets award

The Institute of Directors gives the award for excellance in corporate governance and social responsibility.

Bharat Heavy Engineering Ltd on Friday said its Chairman and Managing Director Ashok K Puri has been awarded the "Distinguished Fellow Award 2006" by the Institute of Directors.

The award was presented by Haryana Governor A R Kidwai in New Delhi on Friday, a BHEL release said.

The award is given to corporate leaders and top government officials for outstanding contribution in the field of corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.

Puri, an electrical engineer and MBA, joined BHEL in 1976 and has diversified experience in key functions like corporate management, international and domestic markets, planning and manufacturing, the release said.
