BHEL net up 70% in 2005-06

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd announced a whopping 70% jump in its net profit at Rs 1,621 cr in 2005-06.

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd on MOnday announced a whopping 70 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 1,621 crore in 2005-06 compared to Rs 953 crore last fiscal.

Announcing the provisional financial results for the year 2005-06, BHEL CMD AK Puri said: "The turnover of the company stood at Rs 14,410 crore over Rs 10,336 crore, representing a 39 per cent increase."

BHEL secured orders worth Rs 9,008 crore in terms of power plant equipment amounting to 3,473 MW, Puri said, adding that the "renewed thrust on renovation and modernisation,spare and services businesses resulted in booking orders worth Rs 1,853 crore."

The company in the last three years has been able to consistently secure orders at record levels and this has resulted in comfortable order outstanding position of Rs 37,500 crore as of end March 2006.

The Earnings per Share has gone up to Rs 66.2, up 70 per cent from Rs 38.95 last year.
