On the lush green ground of the SAI Centre, the contesting teams today were determined to put up a strong challenge to each other.
The first match of the day saw the thumping 6-1 win for the hosts Bhopal against Day Boarding, Lucknow. The score would have been better for the winning team had they capitalised upon the number of close opportunities.
In the second quarterfinal, Lucknow scored the biggest win of the tournament over Rajnandgaon. The one-sided match saw the domination of the UP capital boys over the opponents. The ruthless victory could be gauged from the fact that Lucknow won the match 9-0.
In the last quarterfinal match, Delhi overpowered Etawah 5-2. This was the third consecutive match of the day that ended in domination of one team over the other. However, this match was the formality, as both teams have already qualified for the semifinals.
Earlier, member of the 1975 World Cup-winning team Abdul Ghafoor took introduction with the players of both teams. On the occasion, SAI regional director in-charge A K Sharma and others were present.
