Mahesh Bhupathi and Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia moved into the mixed doubles semifinals of the US Open Grand Slam tennis.

The Indo-Slovakian pair had little difficulty in warding off the challenge of fifth seeded Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe and Japanese Ai Sugiyama as they clinched 7-5, 6-2 win in the quarterfinal on Tuesday.

The unseeded Bhupathi and Hantuchova will next play the sixth seeded American duo of Corina Morariu and Mike Bryan for a place in the final.

Morariu and Bryan scored an upset win over second seeded Rennae Stubbs of Australia and Bob Bryan of USA 6-4, 6-4 in their last eight stage match.

In the juniors tournament, Vivek Shokeen stretched David Navarrete of Venezuala to three sets but lost 3-6, 7-5, 2-6 in their boys' singles first round match at the Flushing Medows.

Shokeen later paired with Jeevan Neduncherhiyan against American duo of Michael McClune and Sam Querrey in the boys' doubles first round match. The Indians lost 2-6, 6-7 (6/8).

Rupesh Roy, the only Indian junior left in the fray, is slated to play his second round boys' singles match against American Matt Bruch.
