Bhutia campaigns for WB minister

Baichung Bhutia was campaigning for Ashok Bhattacharya as he has always supported new talent in sports.

Soccer star Baichung Bhutia on Friday addressed several election meetings in Siliguri in support of CPI(M) candidate and Urban Development minister Ashok Bhattacharya for the Siliguri seat.

Describing himself as an "apolitical" person, Bhutia told reporters that he had decided to campaign for Bhattacharya as he has always supported new talent in sports.

Asked whether he had been approached by Bhattacharya to campaign for him, Bhutia said it was he had who had proposed it and the minister had agreed.
