'Kahe ko gaye bides'. Echoing the pain of those who had to bear the pangs of separation from their beloved ones during migration, the long awaited Bidesia gallery is all set to take shape soon.

The work on setting up the gallery at Manav Vikas Sangrahalay, GB Pant Social Science Institute (Jhusi), will start within 15 days. According to BN Tiwari, keyperson in the Bidesia project, the objects to be displayed have already been collected and soon they will be placed in an appropriate set up. The gallery has been named as 'Kahe ko gaye bides'.
"The gallery will emphasise on the lifestyle of those people who migrated to the countries like Surinam and Holland from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, especially from the Bhojpuri and Awadhi belt in search of work. They initially worked as labourers in these countries but afterwards they also contributed to its development and their struggle gained them stronger positions later. It is also about those who are still contributing to the development of those countries. However, we cannot forget those people in India who had to bear the brunt of separation from their kinsmen who left them forever," said Tiwari.
The entrance of the gallery will have a crisp recruiter which will emphasise on the purpose of the gallery and it will definitely arouse the interest of the visitors.
A map will give the details of the countries of migration and also the historical dates of migration.
One diorama will elaborate the lifestyle of the migrants while another about the women left behind in India. The audio and video songs based on Bidesia culture will also be played in the gallery to enhance the entire effect. Another interesting addition of 'Memory board' will contain the photographs and poems and also postcards and letters which will recall memories.
There will also be books available in the gallery which will give the details about the literature. "Suzzane Legene from Holland and Morris Hasan Khan from Surinam will assist in the setting up of the gallery. They are the researchers who will be assisted by 2-3 members from their respective countries. Later, similar galleries will be set up in Surinam and Holland," said Tiwari.
The Bidesia gallery will be inaugurated in the month of September.
