"The state government was trying to avoid responsibility for the incident that claimed four lives from the minority community, including a child," he said.

The members wanted to bring an adjournment motion in the state assembly to discuss Forbesganj police firing during the monsoon session which began today.

The state government stonewalled the motion on the pretext that the incident was already being probed by a judicial commission, he said in a statement.

Siddique criticised the ruling coalition for not allowing discussion on the issues being probed by judicial commission and said there were instances like Bhagalpur riots in 1989-90 which were discussed in the state legislature.
