Birthplace to have museum soon

ADMINISTRATIVE PREPARATIONS have begun for construction of a museum at the birthplace of great writer Munshi Premchand, Lamhi village, in Varanasi.
The development work is in progress.
Officers of the Culture Department visited Lamhi and assessed the development work. The team of officers was led by joint director of the Culture
Department Anuradha Goel.
They also inspected the place where a gate would be made in the memory of Premchand.
The officers held talks with locals and also visited a workshop in Chunar where the artists were engaged in carving figures, related with the works of Premchand on stones.
This work is being done by the Culture Department through local artists.
The renovation work at the ancestral house of Premchand is going on a warfooting level. Varanasi Development Authority secretary RB Singh said a fund of Rs 25 lakh had been released for renovation purpose. Along with this plan, the beautification of a pond situated here would also be done.
The Varanasi Nagar Nigam (VNN) authorities are also beautifying the statue of Munshi Prenchand situated near Pandeypur and Rs 5 lakh have been sanctioned to the VNN for the purpose.
