Saheb’s family members will present a shehnai vadan on November 25, which is the first day of Lucknow Mahotsava. Pt Birju Maharaj has consented to present the next programme on the same day.
The second day of the Mahotsava will offer a poetic evening in which the poets will warm up the cold winter evening with their creative pieces. This Kavi Sammelan will be the main attraction for the evening. On the same evening Shobhna Rao from Delhi and Shaila Hatangadi from Mumbai would also perform.
“On November 27, Udit Narayan will enchant the audience with his famous numbers. On the next day, November 28 chikankari designers would present a fashion show and a play ‘Jaan-e-Alam’ will also be presented,” said NP Singh, Secretary Lucknow Mahotsava Committee.
“Another major attraction in this Mahotsava will be ‘The Laughter Show’ on November 29. Sunil Pal will make the audience burst into laughter,” said Singh. On the same day Bappi Lahiri will also perform.
As this year is also being celebrated as the 2250th Year of Buddha’s Mahaparinirvan, the Mahotsav committee decided to organise a dance-drama on Buddha’s life and teachings. This dance-drama will be sponsored by the Tourism Department on November 30. Angulimaar and Pujaarin will be staged on that day. On December 1, Anuradha Singh will present a Kathak dance performance and the evening will be mesmerised by Anup Jalota.
As they say Awadh ki shaam is incomplete without a Mushaira, so there will be a Mushaira on December 2. On December 3 and 4, music composers and singers— Shankar-Ehsan-Loy and Alisha Chinoy will perform in the city. The last day of the Mahotsava is reserved for a performance by Shekhar Sen from Mumbai.
Yuva Mahotsava: Under the auspices of Lucknow Mahotsava, Yuva Mahotsava is also celebrated every year.
Several competitions will be organised this year as well. The preliminary rounds for Yuva Mahotsava will begin on Tuesday. The venue for the preliminary rounds is the Auditorium of Horticulture and Food Processing Directorate, Sapru Marg.
