The ruling BJD in Orissa today called for a state-wide agitation against the Centre's decision to hike price of petroleum products including kerosene.

"We will organise mass agitations and protest meetings across the state tomorrow against the price rise of petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG gas," BJD's youth wing convenor Sanjay Dasburma said.

Stating that the fresh price hike in petroleum product would add to the miseries of the people, the party maintained that the UPA government had failed to tackle price rise of essential commodities.

The fuel price rise would also lead to increase in the rate of other items in the market, he said.
