Hitting back at AIADMK and BJP on the Jain Commission issue, AICC General Secretary Kamlnath on Friday said the panel had given a clean chit to the DMK and they were raising it repeatedly out of "desperation".
The commission, which went into the conspiracy angle of Rajiv Gandhi assassination, had exonerated the DMK "lock, stock and barrel", Kamalnath, incharge of Tamil Nadu, told reporters at the airport here.
The AIADMK and BJP, contesting the polls together, had been raising the issue only because they were in a desperate state, he charged, referring to their criticism of Congress' alliance with the DMK when it had accused the latter of links with the LTTE, which assassinated Gandhi.
Kamalnath said the exit polls had clearly stated that the NDA would not cross the half way mark, while the Congress was "growing in strength".
"NDA is now a thing of the past. A new formation will come after the ongoing polls," he said.
He claimed that the DMK-Congress combine in Tamil Nadu was heading for a 'historic victory'.
