"The Governor and the Centre should take cognisance of the statements of UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is advocating the cause of SIMI and defending the organisation for their non-involvement in terrorist activities," party President Rajnath Singh said.

"SIMI is known for supporting militants to carry out anti-national activities and was rightly banned in the year 2001, when I was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh," he said.
