Condemning the Assam killings, the BJP stated on Monday that the internal security situation was "crumbling" under the UPA Government’s rule. It also charged that the government’s Assam strategy lacked any direction.

"The fragility of the internal security arrangement of UPA has been exposed by the ULFA attacks on migrant labour in Assam," Party General Secretary Arun Jaitley said.

Demanding to know what was the government’s strategy for dealing with the Assam situation, he stated that the ceasefire agreed upon with the militants had been violated and the administration had "completely failed" in carrying out its duties.
Jaitley also alleged that the Congress had a "covert alliance" with the ULFA before the Assam elections and the nation was now paying the price for that.
