"We strongly condemn the excessive force, including water cannons and batons, being used against the students. It is inhuman and barbaric. We favour social justice but a way out should be found through discussions to remove their apprehension, " BJP Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Vijay Kumr Malhotra said.

While favouring social justice the party has been demanding increase in seats to accommodate meritorious students besides reservation for the economically backwad among the forward castes.

The party has also been demanding extension of reservations to minority educational insitutions.
