One important point of discussion was BJP’s win in the Uttar Pradesh civic elections. BJP’s performance is a worry for the leading left party since the state assembly election is slated to be held early next year.

Monday’s UPA-Left coordination committee meeting was also analysed. The senior members of the party also reviewed the situation in neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Political developments in Nepal were also discussed.

The Party’s internal activities, including the rising incidence of factionalism in the Kerala state unit, were reviewed. Decisions about the way forward would be taken on Wednesday.
