The walkout, which occurred towards the end of the House's first sitting on a discussion on a motion under rule 260 moved by Leader of Opposition Pandurang Phundkar, Diwakar Raote (Shiv Sena) and others, was triggered by a comment made by Industries Minister Rajendra Darda.

Replying to the motion, Darda said that a company, Citrus International, has preferred to set up its orange processing unit at Nanded.

Interrupting the Minister's reply, the opposition members charged the government of failing to convince the company that a location in Vidarbha would be better for its orange processing unit. They raised slogans that the government has once again proved that it was not serious about Vidarbha's development and walked out of the House.

The motion was related to the efforts undertaken by the government for the all-round development of Vidarbha region. Besides Darda, Agriculture Minister Balasaheb Thorat and Minister of State for Water Resources Vijay Wadettiwar also replied to the motion.
