“BJP rakes up the terrorism issue at the time of election and alleges that the Prime Minister has done nothing against terror but they should not forget that in 2004 when the Parliament was attacked and before that during the Kandhar plane high-jacking, the BJP was in power,” Rahul said during rallies at Maharajganj and Padrauna.

The Congress leader, who launched the party’s election campaign in eastern UP, said the then NDA government had buckled under the pressure of the terrorists and a dreaded mercenary was released.

“Congress has never compromised with terrorism and has not released any criminal. After Mumbai attacks, our Prime Minister created pressure on Pakistan, which gave results,” he said.

Taking a dig at BJP’s India Shining slogan in last general elections, Rahul said majority of the people failed to understand it as it was in English.

He also attacked the ruling BSP government, claiming that central schemes are not being implemented properly in UP due to discriminatory politics by the party.
