Chelsea took another step closer to retaining their Premiership title and increased the pressure on relegation-threatened West Brom with a 2-1 win in Saturday's lunchtime clash at The Hawthorns.

Second-half goals from Didier Drogba and Joe Cole delivered a victory that was marred by the sending-off of Chelsea's Dutch winger, Arjen Robben, for a two-footed lunge at Jonathan Greening.

Chelsea were leading 1-0 at the time and substitute Cole doubled their lead before Nigerian playmaker Nwankwo Kanu claimed a late consolation goal for the Baggies.

The champions now need to take 19 points from their remaining ten games to be sure of retaining their title.

For West Brom, the defeat means they could find themselves back in the relegation zone if local rivals Birmingham win their match at Middlesbrough later on Saturday.
