Bomb hoax creates panic in Solapur

Panic gripped the busy Pandhrapol Chowk in Solapur today due to a bomb hoax, police said. Vehicular traffic jammed for hours when police swung into action to detect the bomb there. Unknown persons had telephoned the police telling that a live bomb has been planted at the Geeta Lodge near the state transport bus stand here. The police rushed to there and combed the entire premises of the lodge with the help of the sniffer dogs.

The local residents as well as the police took a sigh of relief when they found that it was nothing but a hoax call.

The Police Commissioner Himatsingh Deshbhartar told PTI that there is nothing to scare about it as there was no bomb found.

Tight vigil has been in the place in the city, he added. "The person who made the telephone call would be arrested soon" he said.
