According to Sony sources, the decision to bring back the popular dance show was prompted by the popularity of STAR One's Nach Baliye, which incidentally is also poised for a second innings.

The show until two years ago was the channel's biggest USP for TRPs.

"We are a nation of dancers and singers. We love to shake a leg. The popularity of BoogieWoogie is irrefutable. It had to be back. The show was a winner for nine years," Sony Entertainment Television's Shola Rajachandran told IANS.

Hosting the show would be the trio of trademark dancers - Javed Jaffrey, his brother Naved and Ravi Behl.

In the new format for Boogie Woogie, to be telecast over 26 episodes, there would be two championship contests - one for mothers and one for kids.

Mothers between the age of 25 and 55 can participate in the mom's championship.

Auditions for the show are to start from April 24.
