“The NDA will get a clear majority of over 300 seats. There is no need for us to approach any other parties for help. But if in the interest of the nation anyone wants to support us and strengthen the hands of A.B. Vajpayee, they are welcome,” party president M. Venkaiah Naidu said after a meeting of senior party leaders.
On whether the NDA leadership would consider taking the support of Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party or Mayawati's BSP, he said: “Nobody is untouchable.”
Taking a dig at Mulayam Singh, he said: “There is no need for a kingmaker because the king is already there.”
“The baseless speculation about a hung Parliament introduced a new factor, the TITA (Terrible Is The Alternative) as people were cautioned that an alternative to the NDA government would be instability and infighting,” Naidu said.
He alleged that Punjab CM Amarinder Singh was misusing official machinery while in West Bengal, the Left Front was an “expert” in “scientific rigging”.
He said senior party leaders, who met on Thursday to review the poll scenario, chalked out the campaign strategy for the final round of polling. The strategy was decided after considering the feedback from all the state units.
