The advocates started boycott of the court proceedings on June 30, demanding immediate arrest of a head constable, who had allegedly assaulted a lawyer.

Talks to find a solution to the issue at the Magistrate and Judge level ended in failure since both police and lawyers stuck to their stand - police refusing to arrest the head constable and lawyers faulting police for deleting sec 506 (ii)(causing bleeding injuries with weapon) from FIR and releasing the head constable.
