During the survey carried out in 2005, the number of BPL families in Bhopal was greater than half of the city population. There were nine such districts. So the state government ordered re-survey in these districts. The District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) has forwarded the survey programme to the BMC administration. The survey will conclude on June 6.
In year 2000, the survey had found 63754 families in Bhopal. This number had gone up to 147957 during the survey in year 2005.
This rise was considered improper as BPL survey included more than half of the city population.
