BSF man arrested for raping daughter
According to police, the accused had tried to convince the girl that as a father, he had the right to get physical.
A constable with the Border Security Forces has been arrested for allegedly raping his daughter in a hotel room.
Ramlal Behra was arrested on Sunday by the Ranchi Police after his daughter, who tried to commit suicide, lodged a complaint with the police.
The girl, a resident of Dinajpur in West Bengal, had come to Ranchi on Saturday with her father to appear in an engineering examination.
According to a complaint lodged by the girl, her father tried to rape her in their hotel room when she was asleep. She was beaten up when she resisted and was then raped.
While Behra slept after raping his daughter, the shocked 16-year-old girl consumed pesticide and was admitted to a local hospital on Sunday morning.
She revealed the whole incident to the police, who then recorded her statement and Behra was arrested.
According to the police, the accused had tried to make the girl believe that as a father, he had the right to get physical with her.
