General Secretary of the Punjab unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Gurmail Singh Pahalwan on Monday joined the Congress alongwith of his supporters.

Besides, Jaimal Singh Couhan, the president of the Punjab Rajput Sabha also joined the Congress alongwith Pahalwan.
They were welcomed into the party by the Chairman of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee, Capt Amarinder Singh, the working president Lal Singh, the leader of the opposition, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and the national spokesman of the Congress and Ludhiana candidate Manish Tewari.
Pahalwan, who holds influence among the Rajput community, had contested last assembly election from Ludhiana Rural and polled about twenty five thousand votes.
He said, he had joined the Congress without any precondition.
"It is my home coming", he remarked, while pointing out, he had left Congress in 2002 for some differences with party leadership.
