The party had dissolved all its units in the state and suspended two MLAs in the wake of its poor show especially in Haridwar Lok Sabha seat where it failed to win despite winning six of the nine assembly segments in 2007.

The two MLAs--Qazi Nizamuddin and Chaudhary Yashvir-- were suspended for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities during the Lok Sabha polls. Nizamuddin represents Manglore constituency while Yashvir is an MLA from Iqbalpur seat.
