THE NEWLY appointed special BTC teachers staged a dharna at Gandhi statue in Phoolbagh here on Saturday, demanding payment of salary.

Addressing the gathering, leaders of special BTC Shikshak Sangh alleged that due to negligence of District Institute of Education Training (DIET) employees, out of 1,918 special BTC teachers, 256 had not been verified. Consequently, payment of their salary was withheld.

The leaders expressed concern at the poor financial condition of the teachers and said that as the maximum number of teachers were posted out of the district, in Etwah, Kannauj and Auraiya, they were facing hardships.

The leaders demanded action against the guilty employees of DIET for causing delay in verification and warned that if measures for payment of their salary were not taken by May 22, they would fight for their cause on the roads.

Those who participated in the dharna were Avinash Shukla, Salita Singh, Vijai Laxmi, Sarvesh Trivedi, Shailendra Singh, Manoj Gupta, Hitendra Pathak and Ekta Nigam.
