Businessman among 2 arrested with Rs 7 lakh fake currency

Two person, including a Kashmiri businessman, were arrested and fake currency worth Rs 7 lakh was seized from them in Jammu, police said on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Anantnag-based businessman Rouf Ahmed Lachoo yesterday when he got off the train at Jammu railway station, SSP Atul Goel told reporters.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Anantnag-based businessman Rouf Ahmed Lachoo yesterday when he got off the train at Jammu railway station, SSP Atul Goel told reporters.

During interrogation, Rouf revealed that his accomplice, Tanveer Ahmed Ganie had de-boarded the train at Jalander Cantt to visit Amritsar for a medical check-up, he said, adding Ganie was arrested on Sunday from Jammu's Narwal area.

Further investigation is going on to establish the source and destination of the fake currency, he added.
