Citing a database of International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), senior Supreme Court lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan has tweeted that Abhishek Singh, son of Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh, has a foreign bank account, a charge that Singh has strongly denied.

In a tweet, Bhushan, referring to the US-based ICIJ’s offshore database, pointed out the name of Abhishek. The name ‘Abhishak’ (Abhishek) Singh has been mentioned as a shareholder in Quest Height Limited, where he has allegedly invested through a mediator company Sharecorp.

The registered address of ’Abhishak Singh’ is Raman Medical Store, New Bus Stand, Vindhyawasini Ward, in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district. The given place in the database also happens to be the address of the chief minister’s residence in Kawardha.

The opposition Congress has sought from Abhishek, a Lok Sabha member from Rajnandgaon constituency, a clarification on whether he -- in his affidavit during the elections -- had given any information about having shares or investment in any company, organisation or trust abroad.

Abhishek, in response to Bhushan’s tweet, refuted the charges. “I categorically deny the allegations as false and untrue. I don’t have any foreign account. All my income and assets are lawful.”
