Cabinet sanctions plan to strengthen work management

THE State Cabinet, which met here on Tuesday, accorded sanction to a proposal to implement a project for strengthening government work management in the State.
Accordingly, the proposed project involving a total cost of Rs 31.50 crore will be implemented with financial aid from the DFID (Department for International Development of UK). The work on the proposed project is likely to begin in the current financial year.
The funds to be received by the State Government for the implementation of the three-year project will be in the form of cent-percent grant.
The main objective of this project is to strengthen the links existing between the policy, planning and budget so that human resources could be utilised for poverty alleviation and human development in a better and effective manner.
A project implementation committee will be constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary for review and monitoring of the proposed project.
It will also include principal secretaries/secretaries of finance, planning, public undertakings departments besides the departments concerned as members.
