Principals of eminent Delhi schools, educationists and spiritualists recently underscored the immense need for value education in schools.
It was a principal's day out at the Ramakrishna Mission New Delhi premises. Principals of all eminent Delhi schools, educationists, spiritualists and editorial personalities were present for the value education initiative undertaken by Ramakrishna Mission and Indus Quality Foundation.
Guided meditation, self development process, case studies, presentations, discussion forum, visit to an exhibition on Swami Vivekananda, panel discussion on how to make value education practical were the various parts of the day long programme.
Addressing the principals, Daya Pant of NCERT pointed out, "At least once in a day we should ask ourselves, whether we've spoken any harsh words to anybody and we should teach the same to our students too."
Sourish Bhattacharyya, associate editor of Hindustan Times lamented, "As a parent I can say teachers call us parents only to inform how well the kid has scored in the exams, but they never call us for the all round development of the child."
