Call to save river from industrial discharge

WORKERS OF Rashtriya Janata Dal staged a dharna at DM office and handed over a memorandum to the city magistrate. They demanded the authorities to save the water of river Aami being polluted by water discharged from the industries at Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA).

Expressing his views on this occasion, district unit president of the party, Mahendra Singh Rana said the villagers and farmers would hit the streets, if the administration failed to take steps to check the discharge of the polluted water from industries. This discharge is polluting the river Aami water.

State secretary of the party Preet Pal Singh condemned the state government for ignoring the plight of small farmers and said RJD would launch a movement against it.

Party leader Rajaram Yadav, Hariram Nishad and KP Chaudhary said administration had become insensitive over the grievances faced by the villagers and threatened to launch a massive movement against it.
