Campaigning reaches its climax
WITH MERELY two days left for polling, the campaigning for student union elections of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) has reached its climax. The election would be held on Wednesday.
WITH MERELY two days left for polling, the campaigning for student union elections of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) has reached its climax. The election would be held on Wednesday.

There are 34 candidates contesting for the posts of president, vice-president, general secretary and library secretary. The break up of candidates for different posts includes, 10 (president), 8 (vice president), 11(general secretaries) and 5 (library secretary) along with 14 candidates for the post of faculty representatives.
A total of 6,670 voters, consisting of 4,359 male and 2311 female would exercise their franchise and decide the fate of candidates in fray.
The candidates along with their supporters, since the opening of institution in the morning, started taking out small processions on the campus, convincing the voters to seek their support for victory.
Normal academic functioning was adversely affected on the campus following the noisy scene outside classes. The number of students was already less in classes today in comparison to other days.
Earlier, 11 candidates had filed nomination for the post of president but later, one candidate, Narayan Singh, withdrew his nomination on Friday during the withdrawl of nomination process.
Elaborate security arrangements are being ensured by the varsity and district administration for the smooth and peaceful conduct of election on Wednesday.
The bonafide students would be given entry into the campus from the main gate of old campus after showing their recent fee receipts and identity cards to the varsity authorities.
Jawans of Police, Provincial Armed Constabulary and Rapid Action Force (RAF) would be deployed on the campus for the smooth conduct of election.
MGKV Teachers’ Assn polls on Sep 21
THE ELECTION for the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) Teachers’ Association has been scheduled by the varsity administration on September 21.
Election officer Dr RS Tomer said, nomination process for the posts of
president, vice-president, general secretary, secretary, treasurer and 17 executive committee members would be held on September 16 from 11 am to 2 pm.
The withdrawal of nomination process would be conducted on September 18 during the same period.
He added, the election will be held on September 21 between 10 am to 2 pm. Around 175 voters would decide the fate of candidates in the fray.
