Care and maintenance for your blankets
Most blankets are washable by hand or machine. Even some wool blankets can be machine-washed. For machine washable blankets, do ensure that the blanket fits the washing machine or it will not get washed properly. Here are more tips.
1 Machine wash: Most blankets are washable by hand or machine. Even some wool blankets can be machine-washed. For machine washable blankets, do ensure that the blanket fits the washing machine or it will not get washed properly.

2 Water temperature: Use cold water for wash. But before you wash a blanket, mend or replace bindings and treat spots and stains, ensure that the detergent you are using is made for cold water. This will keep your blanket in good condition.
3 Electric blankets: Take special care of electric blankets. They should always be washed, not dry-cleaned, since cleaning solvents can damage the wiring; mothproofing is harmful to the wiring too.
4 Drying blankets: For drying, do not put blankets in a hot dryer. Dry them in a medium heated dryer or on the permanent press cycle and use softener sheets or liquid softener.
