1 Avoid folding:

Velvet is a very delicate fabric. So, don’t fold or iron velvet. Folding it will crease the fabric, sometimes permanently, and ironing it will leave an imprint. Instead, put them on hangers

Velvet2 Store in muslin cloth:

The storage of velvet clothes is equally important. The best way to store them is to cover them with muslin cloth after dusting the fabric. Another thing to keep in mind is to keep velvet clothes kept apart — nothing should be placed atop it

3 Keep away from napthalene balls:

It’s very important to expose velvet outfits in the sun before packing them and storing them in your wardrobe. Also, do not put any naphthalene balls as they may get stuck to the fibres and will leave a peculiar smell

4 Iron care:

Carefully use a steam iron, along with a thick terrycloth towel and a thin, dampened pressing cloth. You have to take extra care while ironing velvet clothes — keep the heat on the minimum level before ironing

5 Dry them completely:

Allow the velvet to air dry completely before you store it in — you can also make use of a hair dryer. Also, avoid getting velvet too wet when cleaning. It can harm the fabric and make it look dull.
