The chargesheet into the case termed by CBI as the "mother of all fake stamp paper cases" also names Telgi's wife and his close associate Mohammed Hafeez and was filed in the MCOCA court of Judge BN Deshpande.

Among the police officers chargesheeted were former IGP Shridhar Wagal, DCP Pradeep Sawant, ACP M Mulani, ACP Gokul Patil, Inspector Prakash Deshmukh, Inspector Dattatreya Dhal, Inspector Vashist Andale, Assistant Inspector Dilip Kamat.

Samajwadi Janata Party MLA from Dhule Anil Gote, Telgi's lawyer Rashid Kulkarni and former Andhra Pradesh Minister and TDP MLA C Krishna Yadav were also named in the chargesheet.

The chargesheet details the modus operandi of Telgi's dealings in fake stamp papers and traces the rise of the scamster over a period of time as well as the actual impact of the scam.

The chargesheet said the analysis of various cell phones used by Telgi while in custody of crime branch, Mumbai from 28-10-2002 to 21-01-2003 has been conducted to link the members of the organised crime syndicate of Telgi.

A number of witnesses were examined to prove the use of the cell phones by the members of organised crime syndicate, it added.

The Central investigating agency, which took over the investigation in March 2004, had actually prepared 67 chargesheets but one of the accused, a police sub-inspector had died at Yerawada Jail here on February 23, this year.

The CBI chargesheet said that the investigation has revealed that Chhagan Bhujbal used to interfere in the transfers and postings of the police officers when he was Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

It further said that the Special Investigating Team constituted by the Maharashtra government had interrogated Bhujbal and his nephew Samir.

However, no material sufficient to draw conclusions about either of them's role in the scam surfaced during the investigation, it added.
