Reacting to an HT story titled ‘CBI chief partied with former IB boss he charged in Ishrat case’ published on July 25, CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said the report tends to cast aspersion on the professional capacity of the functioning of CBI as an investigating agency.

“Investigation in the case has already been completed many months before the said function took place,” the CBI said. The correspondent responded saying, “I had spoken to the CBI director before doing the story. He said that attending the function was his “private affair” and he will not answer any query in this regard.

Sinha’s remark was carried prominently in the story.
