Charbagh station to boast of cyber cafe soon
A NEW automatic ticket-vending machine has been installed at the Charbagh Railway Station, to reduce long queues outside ticket counters.
“This is because the Indian Railways puts the customers first,” said Northern Railway Divisional Rail Manager (DRM) RK Gupta, while delivering a lecture on ‘Challenges of Living Up to User Expectations’ at Jaipuria Institute of Management (JIM) on Friday.
He said that in 10 days time, a cyber café would come up at Charbagh station and to make the Railways self-reliant, stress is being laid on involving private partners too, in improving the system and making it even more efficient. He said that even the catering system would be given on contract now.
Gupta said that in 2005-6 the Railways did a record business. “As compared to last year, the Railways has earned between 10 to 18 per cent more revenue this time. Along with good management, good service is a must too,” he said.
Earlier, JIM director Prof S Chakraborty said at the outset that those people holding responsible positions in the Indian Railways have a daunting task of satisfying a vast majority of people.
“Railways have always faced the challenges with courage and success,” he added.
