Formerly known as the MA Aziz Stadium the stadium, this ground became a first-class venue in the 1950s, while the country was still a part of Pakistan.
The Chittagong stadium began its life as Bangladesh's second Test venue — behind Dhaka — in 2001 when the home side took on Zimbabwe.
The ground has hosted six Tests and seven One-Day Internationals, but Bangladesh are still awaiting their first victory here in both forms of the game.
The highest Test score at the ground was struck by South African batsman Jacques Rudolph (222 not out) April 2003.
Daniel Vettori produced the best Test bowling figures at the venue with 12 wickets for 170 runs during New Zealand's tour in October 2004. He claimed six scalps in both the innings.
