This is what State Home Minister Jayant Patil told the Legislative Council on Thursday.

The decision came after the issue of a recent gold robbery incident was raised in the Council.

On May 25, 100 kg of gold and 40 kg of silver was pilfered from the cargo area.

When members complained of lack of security concern on the part of police stations in the area, Patil said a separate inquiry would be held on the airport section’s assistant commissioner of police and police stations around.

“Security in the area is very lax,” said Shiv Sena Member of Legislative Council

Kiran Pawaskar while putting forward a calling attention notice.

Pawaskar also said quite a few happenings within the airport area had gone unreported at police stations.

He alleged that a certain police officer was running a private firm, Avicon Aviation Pvt Ltd, in the cargo area.
