The minimum temperature hovered around 30.3 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal and the highest for the season.

The temperature on Thursday is expected to be similar with weather experts expecting the maximum and minimum temperature to be 45 degrees and 31 degrees, respectively.

According to officials at the Regional Met Centre, this seems to be the worst of the summer so far and the temperatures may come down by a couple of notches from Saturday.

Almost each year, the highest maximum temperature for a season is recorded in May, usually in the month's last two weeks.
