"We call upon Richard Feachem, executive director of the International funding agency, to disclose the regions where the study was conducted and the percentage of the population of Hindus and Muslims that was subjected to tests," VHP's International Working President, Ashok Singhal, said.

Feachem was reported to have made such remarks about the spread of HIV/AIDS at a press conference in Paris recently.

The picture projected by him (Feachem) certainly puts the country in a bad light and he should give the details which formed the basis of his "controversial" remarks, Singhal said.

Analysing the disease on religious parameters could prove counter-productive and efforts to prevent the spread of the disease might go waste," he said.
