Close shave for Congress leader

This is the second attempt so far this year on the life of the controversial Congress leader who was in jail for sometime on a murder charge before being acquitted.

Police said that the bomb, an improvised explosive device, went off when the vehicle carrying the ex-MLA and his followers was near a drain.

The bomb planted near the drain was operated by remote control and the vehicle was damaged in the impact. The politician accompanied by his followers was proceeding to a temple.

The police have recovered another unexploded bomb from the site. The injured were later shifted to Christian Medical College Hospital at Vellore.
