THIS SUNDAY, apart from being an Easter Sunday, a holiday and the day after India secured its victory in the ODI series played between India and England in a match played in the City, putting people in a jovial mood was a respite from the oppressive heat allowing them to go out and enjoy all the above.

Clouds hovered over the cityscape from early morning hours making the Sun god go into hiding on the very day dedicated to him in the week. City dwellers who had been forced to stay in the confines of their homes cooled by various electronic gizmos and who feared to venture out in the open took to the streets with a vengeance.

According to the weather bureau, such conditions during the day were not uncommon during this time of the year. The cloud formation was an extension to the rain-bearing clouds formed over the state of Chhattisgarh and eastern Madhya Pradesh.

Some places in those areas had received moderate rainfall arising from a low-pressure area forming due to a cyclonic activity formed over an axis spreading between Tamil Nadu to Jharkhand. The highest rainfall due to this phenomenon was recorded at 10 cm at Champa, while Raipur, Bilaspur, Sarguja and Bastar received rainfall along with high wind velocity.

The daytime temperature in the City took a dip with maximum being recorded at 37 degree Celsius (-2) and the minimum at 22.6 degree Celsius (+2). The wind velocity was normal at 15 to 20 kms/hour and being hardly noticeable did not spoil the fun of families on outings. On accord of the pleasant weather, the day became a perfect Sunday.
