CM?s assurance to Manjhi community

CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that initiatives would be taken for ensuring facilities to sub-castes of Manjhi community at par with scheduled tribes. The issue would be taken up with the Centre.

He said that the State Government would take all possible steps to resolve the problems of Manjhi community. He was addressing Manjhi Mahotsava at Ravindra Bhavan here today.

The CM said Manjhi community was talented and industrious and was known by Maharaj Vidur, Eklavya and other luminaries. He appreciated the initiative of instituting awards in the name of great scholars and legendary figures. He congratulated the talented persons awarded by Manjhi Adivasi Sangharsha Morcha, Raisen.

The CM released a souvenir - Nishad Charitra. President of the Morcha, R B Verma, apprised the CM of the problems of Manjhi community. Convenor of the Manjhi Mahotsava Dr Kailash Vinay also spoke on the occasion.

Representatives of the Manjhi community from across the State welcomed the Chief Minister. The programme began with the presentation of Vande Mataram by Alka Nigam, said an official release.
