THE CHIEF Minister’s helicopter had to land at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) premises around six pm owing to traffic diversion for the Muharram procession today.

The chopper was not landed at the state hanger on the airport because the CM’s cavalcade could not have moved on the VIP road in view of the traffic suspension.

Also, the Lal Parade Ground was witnessing preparations for convention of the Self Help Groups (SHGs) that is scheduled on Friday. Besides, recruitment of policemen was on at the Motilal Nehru Stadium inside the Lal Parade Ground.

This left the pilot with no option than landing the helicopter at the MANIT. The Chief Minister was returning to the capital after attending several programmes outside and was to go to Delhi after participating in the ophthalmologists’ convention at the Minto Hall.
