CMP College student assaulted
UNIDENTIFIED MISCREANTS assaulted a student leader near the Baihrana gate of CMP Degree College on Saturday afternoon. The victim, identified as Shiv Kumar Srivastava, a BA-III student of CMP Degree College, who had unsuccessfully contested the student union elections for the post of joint secretary last year, has been admitted to the SRN Hospital for treatment.
UNIDENTIFIED MISCREANTS assaulted a student leader near the Baihrana gate of CMP Degree College on Saturday afternoon. The victim, identified as Shiv Kumar Srivastava, a BA-III student of CMP Degree College, who had unsuccessfully contested the student union elections for the post of joint secretary last year, has been admitted to the SRN Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at around 1.15 pm when the victim was attacked by a group of youngsters, believed to be the students of CMP Degree College itself and assaulted Shiv Kumar following a brief altercation. The miscreants fled from the scene only after Shiv Kumar collapsed on the ground following the thrashing.
On being contacted, CMP Degree College proctor Dr Shashank Dwivedi confirmed the incident and said, “I received information at around 1.30 pm that a student was lying on the road near the college’s Baihrana Gate. After finding him in a serious state, I immediately got him admitted to the SRN Hospital’s emergency ward, where his condition is said to be out of danger now.”
Dr Dwivedi said that though the victim was not able to identify all the assailants, he has pointed fingers at some students of the college. “A police complaint has been lodged at the Georgetown police station from the side of the victim.
We on our part will initiate strict action against the guilty as soon as Shiv Kumar identifies his attackers and they turn out to be students of our college,” he said.
