Since the number of students in the degree colleges is far less than at LU, the college administration is apprehensive they would not be able to generate such a huge amount. Hence, it’s possibile that colleges may decide on paying Rs 50,000 in case of accidental death and a grant of upto Rs 10,000 in case of serious injury.

Pro V-C RS Yadav said: “We are encouraging college administration to start welfare scheme on these lines and decide the modalities of their own. Since it is a good scheme we want more and more students to be covered. We would take up the matter in the college principals’ meeting and try to convince them to provide insurance cover to students of their respective colleges as well.”
