The complainant, Vijay Kohli, works with a reputed private hospital in Gurgaon.
“Kohli wanted to purchase a property in Diplomatic Greens New Apartments in Gurgaon. He approached accused Rakesh Chaudhary seeking a home loan. Chaudhary introduced him to two other accused Davinder and Ravinder. Kohli was asked to submit 12 blank cheques to process the home loan,” said a police officer at the Sadar police station.
“One of the accused withdrew R12.5 lakh from the victim’s account with the help of 12 blank cheques,” he added.
When Kohli got to know about the fraud, he tried to contact the accused but to no avail. He finally approached the Gurgaon police.
“We have received a complaint and the matter is being investigated,” the official added.
Earlier on June 8, the city police filed a case against eight persons for allegedly acquiring a piece of government land on the basis of forged documents.
A case was registered at the Kherki Daula police station after a local court instructed the police to do so on the complaint of Vijay Pal, the victim.
